You will be part of the Connect 6ix team, that is passionate about meeting the expectations of the local and international markets.About the ProjectThe Rolling Stock, Systems, Operations and Maintenance (RSSOM) project is one of many contracts to deliver the Ontario Line, a 15.6-kilometre stand-alone rapid transit line that will connect the Ontario Science Centre to Exhibition/Ontario Place.Project BenefitsFaster, more frequent and reliable access to rapid transit with more than 227,500 people will live within a 10-minute walk of an Ontario Line stationImprove the quality of life for commuters by reducing daily travel timeReduce crowding on the existing Line 1 (Yonge-University) subwayUp to 57,000 more jobs accessible by transit (in 45 minutes or less) for Toronto residentsEconomic and community growth along the future transit line and thousands of job opportunities annually during constructionReduction in traffic congestion, greenhouse gases and fuel consumption by providing an alternative transportation optionThe RoleReports to the Subcontract Manager and will be responsible for providing oversight of several subcontracts management.Responsibilities:Administers assigned subcontracts starting from involving in subcontract negotiations and maintaining a continual review of progress and providing management with information regarding projected financial, technical and contractual difficulties.Coordinates with designated staff on operational activities affecting contractual rights and obligations, subcontract performance, subcontract administration and other major matters.Ensure compliance with contract requirements and include requirements appropriately in subcontract terms & conditions.Working knowledge of insurance policies and administering claims that fall under the project insurance policy deductibles.Implementation of Change Management procedures.Receipt, Recording and Negotiation of Change Orders and managing change issues with SubcontractorsEnsure timely and accurate contractual correspondence with subcontractorsPricing of change and delay issuesIdentification and tracking of deliverables including bonds, reports and insurance certificates and insurance claims.Identification and implementation of record keeping validating potential ChangesMaintenance of change management/issue logs and provision of summary reportsMaintaining excellent relationships with the subcontractors and publicOther responsibilities include but are not limited to: 1.participating on subcontractor kickoff meetings and review meetings 2.resolution of submitted and potential change orders 3.payment administration 4.schedule monitoring 5.monthly financial reporting 6.recommend efficiency changes to contract 7.Subcontract Agreement closeoutQualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Business Administration required (Engineering degree preferred)5+ years of experience in contract administration of infrastructure projects or a related field like quantity surveying, legal Experience working with and managing contractsKnowledge and understanding of the legal requirements involved in specific contractsRelevant experience in managing and administering insurance claimsAbility to conduct telephone investigations, evaluate, negotiate and settle first and third-party commercial lines claimsAttention to detail and ability to notice errorsDesired Skills & QualificationsStrong awareness of construction and contract law (Experience with Canadian Construction Documents Committee (CCDC) forms of contract an asset)Engineering background (civil, systems, MEP, track) preferred but not requiredSignificant major project experience dealing with change/claims management/dispute resolution issuesBeing able to work in a team in Joint Venture environmentDynamic highly motivated individual able to interact with construction teamsExcellent computer and software skills, including Word, Excel, Power Point, OutlookGood working knowledge of (Sub)contract and Construction LawGood understanding of contracting principles and legal terms and conditionsExperience with managing vendor/subcontractors’ relationships, estimation, analyzing information and reporting.We are an equal opportunity employer.
