Your Role and Responsibilities
As an IT Security Services Specialist, you will apply your cyber security knowledge and skills to defend our clients from increasingly complex and persistent cyber threats using our advanced security tools and platforms and following robust security operations processes and procedures.
**You will be working as part a team of security professionals in our 24x7x365 Canada Security Operations Center (SOC) delivering managed security services.**
Working with a team of security professionals in shift rotation, you will be involved in cyber security events analysis, triage, investigation, response, device health and availability management, security and service-level reporting, and other security administration activities.
Responsibilities include:
- Monitor security events and conduct investigation and analysis, identify false positives, prepare notification to clients for security incidents and participate in incident response operations, if required, using documented processes and procedures, security tools and resources.
- Work with IBM and client escalation teams to gain additional information for analysis and correlation of events.
- Investigate and analyze cyber security threats based on threat intelligence and awareness and follow a robust set of security processes and procedures.
- Perform triage of cyber security threats, establish incident parameters, and escalate.
- Support incident response and security investigation.
- Perform assigned activities in a shift rotation (12 hour shifts). Shifts could be in the day or night period, weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
- Support the development of incident response plans and support implementation of remediation actions to mitigate associated risks.
- Maintain and increase security awareness, information, training, and certifications on an ongoing basis, to be seen by clients as subject matter experts and trusted advisors for the managed services being rendered and IT security in general.
- Perform all activities adhering to IBM and Client policies and processes and contribute towards continuous improvements to the services.
- Contribute towards team documentation efforts by creating and maintaining effective operational and technical documentation.
- Work effectively as a team player and proactively identify and escalate to management any risks and opportunities in the managed services.
- Engage in regular cadence with client and IBM governance teams and provide value add by means of recommendations to drive efficiency and value while minimizing vulnerabilities.
- Canadian Security Level 2 Secret Eligible.
- 10 consecutive years of Canadian Residency is required.
- Must have Canadian Citizenship or Permanent Residency card.
- Experience in a Security Operations Role.
- Experience in security event analysis and triage.
- SIEM and/or SOAR experience including management, rules creation, use case deployment, reporting, correlation, and investigation.
- **This role requires an individual flexible for 24x7x365 shift rotation (including 12-hour shifts).**
- Office location is flexible.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or information technology.
- Bilingual (English & French) would be an asset.
- Security vendor or product skills (SIEM, UTM, WAF, VMS, EDR, Sandbox solutions, NAC, IPS/IDS, Load Balancer, etc.), preferably on any of the following technologies: IBM QRadar, Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Defender, Google Chronical, Fortinet, Cisco, Palo Alto, Trend Micro, and/or CrowdStrike.
- Sound understanding of Industry Leading security solutions and standards such as NIST or MITRE ATT&CK.
- Industry recognized security certifications such as CISSP, CISA, ITIL, etc.
- Technical, product, vendor, or cloud certifications.
- Client facing experience supporting large scale security solutions.
- Sound understanding of networking concepts.
- Experience using Linux-based systems.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of Databases.
