IT Applications Developer & Support Specialist - Burnaby, BC

The Role:

Our IT Department is looking for an IT Applications Developer & Support Specialist to join the Watson Gloves Family. The IT Applications Developer & Support Specialist is a key member of the IT Team who will design and develop high-quality code and unit tests, manage databases with SSRS reports and Stored Procedures, and provide architectural oversight using tools like Monday.com and UML. The role involves collaborating closely with stakeholders for system integration, acting as a Project Manager for critical IT projects, and documenting issues in the ticketing system. The candidate will also serve as a technical leader and subject matter expert, assisting in integrating and migrating cloud services.

YOUR Core Responsibilities:

Solution Design and Development:

  • Design and develop production-quality code for applications.

  • Create and implement unit tests to optimize system efficiency.

Database Management:

  • Develop SSRS reports supporting Watson processes.

  • Craft Stored Procedures for various functionalities.

  • Ensure effective database management, including backups, recovery, and automation of tasks.

Architectural Oversight:

  • Provide a comprehensive architectural perspective on projects using tools like Monday.com, UML, and whiteboard diagrams.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure seamless integration of systems.

Stakeholder Collaboration:

  • Work closely with internal and external stakeholders for requirements gathering, design, and integration.

Project Management:

  • Act as a Project Manager for critical IT projects, overseeing progress and communicating effectively with key stakeholders.

  • Document issues and outcomes accurately into the ticketing system to capture enough information for escalation and historical tracking.

Technical Leadership:

  • Serve as a subject matter expert, providing technical leadership for critical IT initiatives.

Cloud Integration:

  • Work on integrating cloud services into the IT infrastructure of Watson Gloves.

  • Assist the external consultant in deploying the next ERP and other applications on the cloud.

  • Assist with migrating data from on-prem to the cloud.

What YOU BRING to Watson Gloves:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.

  • Development skills in programming languages such as Python

  • Experience with DevOps and agile engineering practices.

  • Demonstrable experience planning, prioritizing, and executing multiple deliveries simultaneously.

  • Experience supporting the O365 suite of products.

  • Previous experience with WMS and CRM is an asset.

  • Proven experience working with Microsoft Dynamics GP, Business Central, CRM and other business applications in a technical capacity is an added advantage.

  • Strong proficiency in SQL, with the ability to write complex queries and perform data manipulation.

  • Hand-on experience with SSRS, SSMS and SQL Trace Profiler.

  • Familiarity with SDLC methodologies and tools.

  • Strong communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
