Our client, a leading provider of engineering solutions dedicated to advancing sustainable infrastructure and energy projects. We are seeking a licensed Protection & Controls (P&C) Engineer to join our team. The P&C Engineer will play a crucial role in the design, implementation, and maintenance of protection and control systems for electrical infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and implement protection and control systems for electrical substations, transmission lines, and distribution systems.
  • Perform detailed engineering analysis and calculations to ensure the reliability, performance, and safety of protection systems.
  • Prepare technical specifications, drawings, and documentation for protection and control equipment.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including clients, vendors, and regulatory agencies, to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
  • Conduct site visits and inspections to assess existing infrastructure, identify potential issues, and propose solutions for system upgrades or modifications.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including electrical engineers, project managers, and field technicians, to deliver integrated solutions that meet project objectives.
  • Provide technical support during the construction, commissioning, and testing phases of projects, ensuring that protection and control systems are installed and operated according to design specifications.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies, industry trends, and regulatory requirements related to protection and control systems.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance and training as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in the province of British Columbia.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in the design, testing, and commissioning of protection and control systems for electrical utilities or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong knowledge of industry standards and practices related to protection and control, including IEC, IEEE, and CIGRE.
  • Proficiency in engineering software tools such as ETAP, SKM PowerTools, or PSCAD.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to interact confidently with clients and team members.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
