As a Senior Software Developer with our Check Fraud team, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of challenges, with a focus on creating innovative solutions. You will use your curious mind, refined problem-solving ability, and code writing expertise to bring fresh new ideas to life. Your contribution will help Verafin fight crimes such as human trafficking, elder abuse, and drug trafficking, and you’ll join a large team who is equally passionate about making a difference. Being a Senior Software Developer at Verafin means getting the opportunity to have a positive impact on the world while doing what you love – solving complicated problems using the power of code.

Role Responsibilities
  1. Working in collaboration with your team, while delivering project requirements
  2. Designing solutions to solve technical problems
  3. Mentoring and coaching team members
  4. Completing code reviews to ensure quality
  5. Helping develop new features, bug fixes, and optimizations
Essential Skills & Qualifications
  1. A university degree or college diploma in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
  2. 2 years Development experience
  3. Strong analytical skills and creativity to solve complex problems
  4. Experience in pulling and analyzing large datasets
  5. Experience in translating customer/business requirements into analytical model implementation
  6. Experience in object-oriented software development
  7. Willingness to ask for help, learn from, and mentor others
  8. Top notch interpersonal and organizational skills making teamwork a positive experience
  9. Experience in Java or Python
  10. Experience with machine learning frameworks such as Amazon SageMaker
  11. Experience with machine learning model development and deployment
Would be good to have experience in a few of the following areas
  1. Core Banking Systems
  2. Amazon Web Services
  3. Intelligent systems, artificial intelligence, and data science
  4. Strong SQL query and optimization skills
  5. Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop or Spark
  6. Familiarity with natural language processing techniques
  7. Database technologies (PostgresSQL)
  8. Data extraction, transformation/cleansing, and integration

This position can be located in St. John’s or Toronto, and offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment (2 days a week in office), providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.
