Montreal, Canada High Tech Genesis Full time

High Tech Genesis is looking for a Data Modeler to join our team. Reporting to the BI Lead, this role will play a key part in developing, implementing, and continuously evolving a best-in-class data management capability. You will leverage our extensive customer and operational data sets to drive insights, support business management, and help achieve and exceed our organizational objectives.

In this role, you will:

  1. Provide the technical management around source systems, extract, transform and load (ETL) processes, data stores, data warehouses and business intelligence tools.
  2. Develop rules and processes to control the integrity (accuracy, thoroughness, process compliance) of all data within Data Warehouse, IOT and Big Data environment.
  3. Manage the repository of all data assets, including scripts, template database objects and documentation.
  4. Strong ability to link technical elements (i.e. Data Models) to business elements (i.e. Business process mapping).
  5. Strong ability to leverage our data into meaningful insights and robust forecasting.
  6. Determine root causes and business impacts of data quality issues; assess existing data rules & responsibilities; determine and prioritize data related risks with business Data Stewards.
  7. Work closely with the BI Lead to recommend which data quality rules, responsibilities & data management processes to be implemented or changed.
  8. Support and contribute to project management activities by participating in the scoping and estimating of project efforts, risks identification and mitigation measures recommendation, communicating activity status and providing timely notification and escalation of possible issues/problems to the BI Lead.
  9. Work in an Agile/Scrum environment to deliver high quality nimble solutions and services while maintaining a strategic vision and set of priorities.
  10. Work collaboratively with product owners, data engineers, and users to develop a deep understanding of stakeholder requirements and business objectives.
  11. Extract various data sources and connect, import, and transform data for Business Intelligence.
  12. Develop and implement best practices for our data analytics and ensure conformity to industry standards.
  13. Develop multidimensional models that are compatible with warehouse standards.
  14. Understand business requirements and data models while taking care of the sources.
  15. Work side by side with partners, colleagues, and teams on challenging problems.

Required skills and experience:

  1. College or University degree in Computer Science.
  2. 5+ years in data management, IT technology, and operations in a large company.
  3. Knowledge of how applications, data stores, and ETL processes work.
  4. Strength in data modeling, ETL development, and data warehousing.
  5. Experience building/operating highly available, distributed systems of data extraction, ingestion, and processing of large data sets.
  6. Knowledge of SQL and Snowflake Data Warehouse.
  7. Data Governance and Data Quality concepts knowledge.

Bonus Skills:

  1. Bilingualism: Fluency in both English and French (written and spoken) is an asset.
