Description of OrganisationThe First Nations Adult Education School Council (FNAESC) aims to support the implementation and operations of the First Nations Regional Adult Education Centers in Quebec. Our focus is on providing high-quality adult learning environments that prioritize culturally relevant student-centered learning. We strive to create safe and healthy environments that reflect the values of First Nations and empower students to acquire the knowledge and skills needed for their future educational and professional pursuits.DetailsEvening classes (approx. 6-9pm)Small groups of students in varying levels (1-6 students, from presecondary to Secondary 3)Classes in Maximum security, as well as in general populationRESPONSIBILITIES for teacher in Correctional Institutions are as follows:Provide training in accordance with the Quebec Ministry Adult Education Pedagogical Regime.Teach French second language to First Nations students.Plan learning activities that take into consideration diverse student needs.Assess learning and provide feedback.Build trusting relationships with studentsAdministration of exams as neededQualitative evaluations of students for correctional fileREQUIREMENTS:Quebec provincially recognized teaching license (Brevet d’enseignement) or be in the process of acquiring the license.Openness to work in a prison environment.Understanding of diverse factors affecting Indigenous communities. Familiarity with First Nations cultures and valuesEase in transmitting knowledge.Ability to create engaging and culturally relevant learning materials.Bilingual English/French Experience with learning difficulties an asset.Indigenous language is an asset.
