As an Embedded AWS Specialist, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and developing AWS infrastructure technology. Your responsibilities will include proactively maintaining and developing all AWS infrastructure to ensure 24x7x365 uptime service. You’ll engineer systems administration-related solutions for various projects and small demand request needs, adhering to best practices for managing systems and services across all environments. Troubleshooting issues, analyzing logging information, and reporting performance exceptions will be part of your project tasks prior to release for operational support. Collaborating with other teams to develop automation strategies and deployment processes will be essential.

Minimum Requirements:

Computer Science degree, or Technical College diploma

8 years of expertise in IT operations and project execution, profound understanding of crafting, implementing, and sustaining AWS cloud infrastructure solutions aligned with organizational initiatives

5+ years of experience with AWS in an enterprise environment

1-3 years of hands-on infrastructure as code (Terraform – Nice to have)

Experience working with cloud controls, security, and monitoring technologies, as well as hands on experience utilizing alerts based on aggregated logs and analytics output and audit services for performance validations

Experience in large-scale migration of application workloads from on-prem or collocated data centers to a cloud platform

Extensive expertise in public and private cloud environments, IT infrastructure operations (server/workload, storage/data protection, networks), for various cloud service models

Responsibilities:

Member of a team designing, deploying and administering all cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (primary focus on AWS), including Azure, Unix and Windows platforms, and Containers (OpenShift, Kubernetes)

Updating tracking and ticketing toolsets including ServiceNow for request and change management, Jira for work tracking, and Power BI reporting

Member of the On-Call rotation to ensure reliable 24x7 operations

Operate with a DevOps mindset as you plan-build-run through the entire infrastructure lifecycle

Monitor and support the evolution of cloud adoption through effective engagement with IT Projects, IT Operations, and key business stakeholders

Mature Suncor’s cloud services using best practices around IaC, Automation, Microservices, or other means to enhance reliability while assuring cybersecurity, costs and compliance as per industry best practices and Suncor standards

Location and other Key Details:

You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W

Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
