The Opportunity:

WSP is growing and has an opportunity for a skilled engineer to join us in our Energy and Resource Team.

As an Engineer with us, you'll be part of a growing team, using your skills to design varied projects in size and complexity. Projects consisting of traditional oil and gas, biofuels/biomass processing facilities, lithium battery facilities & carbon capture projects. #WSP-ERI

What you can expect to do here:

  1. You'll establish design criteria, prepare engineering specifications, design calculations, material take-offs (MTO) in accordance with project requirements.
  2. You'll support the planning, scheduling, cost control activities in the design as related to the Project Plan.
  3. You'll propose solutions for improving or optimizing processes, programs, and procedures. Assist in resolving complex problems requiring a comprehensive and detailed analysis and multi-disciplinary understanding.
  4. You'll Contribute to knowledge transfer by providing functional guidance, coaching and peer review to the team's less experienced professionals or to technicians.
  5. You'll participate in the planning and implementation of large and complex projects requiring innovative solutions.
  6. You'll Conduct on-site inspections as required.
  7. You'll detailed civil and structural designs, which include concrete foundations, piling, steel structures etc.
  8. You'll Prepare documentation for engineering hours budgets, schedules, work plans, tender documents, technical reports, project calculations etc.
  9. You'll assign, give instructions and providing directions to technical support staff.
  10. You'll establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, contractors, suppliers and team members.
  11. You'll ensure the Quality Assurance, consistency, and integrity of the electronic handover of deliverables.
  12. You'll be responsible for reviewing and stamping drawings (as required); using experience in interpreting design codes and regulatory requirements.
  13. You'll check work of and assist in the training of less experienced engineering personnel.
  14. You'll communicate with internal peers and project team and may be required to answer questions regarding deliverables.

What you'll bring to WSP:

  1. A university degree in Structural Engineer.
  2. Registered in the Provincial Engineering Association
  3. 10 years and over experience in the engineering of civil structural designs in Oil and Gas industry.
  4. Working knowledge of software like SAP 2000, ETABS, S-Frame, STAAD Pro, Dyna6 etc.
  5. Good report writing skills.
  6. Familiarity with relevant design codes for Piling, Concrete and Steel Structures, and also current Industrial standards.
  7. Proficient in MS Office.
  8. A team player with strong communication and inter-personal skills.
  9. Solid organization and time management skills.
