Our client is seeking a skilled Tax Specialist/Senior Tax Specialist to join their esteemed tax team. As an integral part of this cohesive department, you will engage in diverse compliance and tax planning projects, while also providing invaluable support to the audit and assurance team in navigating tax-related matters. This role offers a unique opportunity to work closely with esteemed managers and partners, gaining firsthand insights into the intricacies of Canadian tax regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Execute the preparation of intricate personal, corporate, trust, partnership, and HST tax returns with precision and proficiency.
  • Generate various tax reporting slips and election forms to ensure comprehensive compliance.
  • Contribute to tax planning engagements, leveraging expertise to optimize client outcomes.
  • Liaise adeptly with tax authorities, addressing a spectrum of tax matters with finesse on behalf of clients.
  • Support colleagues by assisting with miscellaneous tax projects and conducting research on diverse tax issues for personal and corporate clients.
  • Provide invaluable assistance to clients undergoing income tax audits by taxation authorities, ensuring a seamless process and favorable outcomes.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with managers and partners, delivering regular progress updates and promptly addressing any arising issues.
  • Cultivate technical prowess by staying abreast of industry trends, emerging developments, and tax authority decisions, applying newfound insights in daily operations.
  • Play a pivotal role in mentoring and training co-ops and junior staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business, CPA preferred.
  • Dedication to pursuing the CPA Canada In-Depth Tax Course, showcasing a commitment to ongoing professional development.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on Canadian tax experience within a reputable public accounting firm, exhibiting a nuanced understanding of industry intricacies.
  • Familiarity with TaxPrep and CaseWare is advantageous
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written, enabling effective collaboration and client interaction.
  • Eagerness to learn and a penchant for conducting thorough research, driving continuous improvement and innovation.
  • Demonstrated work ethic and problem-solving acumen, underpinning a track record of exemplary performance and client satisfaction.
