Your Job & the Role

INVISTA Canada's manufacturing site located in Kingston, Ontario has an immediate opening for a Laboratory Leader to join the Site Quality Organization. As the Laboratory Leader, you will oversee the day-to-day operations of our laboratory while leading focused areas of continuous improvement with our talented laboratory team. You will ensure that all laboratory activities are conducted efficiently, safely, and in compliance with regulatory standards.

The Laboratory Leader will play a key role in driving continuous improvement with team members, implementing best practices, and optimizing processes to achieve our Visions. What You Will Do
  1. Provide supervisory and strategic leadership to the Kingston Site Laboratory team including setting vision, strategies and goals aligned with the Global Quality and Site Visions.
  2. Create an environment and build a capability in team members for driving continuous improvement towards Right the 1st Time release of product, resulting in zero medium/high impact quality incidents and rework of product.
  3. Continuously improve the consistency of product offerings through the reduction in measurement variability by applying statistical process controls and measurement systems analysis (MSA).
  4. Drive continuous improvement of quality risk profile through the engagement of laboratory team members.
  5. Lead the execution of lab instrument migration projects including communicating with our site and customer-facing quality team members.
  6. Manage laboratory resources, including equipment, materials, and costs, to maximize productivity.
  7. Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, including health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  8. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including R&D and manufacturing, to support product development and commercialization.
  9. Provide technical expertise and support to address quality incidents at the root.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  1. Previous experience working in a manufacturing, industrial or military environment.
  2. Post-secondary education in a technical or technology discipline.
  3. 2+ years’ experience in a leadership role or informal leadership through program/projects.

What Will Put You Ahead
  1. Previous experience leading in a unionized manufacturing environment.
  2. Previous experience working in a laboratory environment including the leadership of continuous improvement programs.
  3. Experience applying quality core tools including PFMEA, MSA, and statistical methods.
