Wood Instrumentation & Controls Specialist - Edmonton, AB or Calgary, AB

Wood is seeking an experienced Instrumentation & Controls Specialist in Edmonton, AB or Calgary, AB to join our busy and growing Oil & Gas Canada team due to growth in our business Please note this role will work our standard office hybrid work schedule.

Our projects team has a long history of delivering some of the biggest and most complex projects in the Canadian oilsands, along with associated pipelines and refinery infrastructure. Responsibilities:
  1. Assures compliance with Engineering Procedures and quality control standards
  2. Participates in project audits (quality and technical)
  3. Support in the development of estimates for engineering work
  4. Interfacing with various engineering disciplines and suppliers
  5. Project Execution may include but not limited to:
    • Specifying, selecting and sizing field instrumentation (Pres/Temp/Flow/Level), Control Valves, on/off valves, relief valves and control devices
    • Preparing and reviewing IO lists and assignments
    • Selection and procurement of controls hardware, communications, and network systems
    • Preparing and checking Instrument Loop diagrams as well as System cabinet design / wiring
    • Responsible for performing squad check of vendor data and drawings from other disciplines
    • Providing input to P&ID’s
    • Design, development, and technical content of the I&C portion of project work
    • Have frequent contact with vendors
    • Plan, coordinate and prepare Material Requisitions, Technical Bid Evaluations, and award recommendations for various equipment within instrumentation and controls
Requirements:
  • Instrumentation Technologist / Bachelors in Science, Engineering from an accredited University or College
  • Minimum of 5 + yrs. Industry experience
  • Understanding and familiarity of API, ASME, CSA, AER and ISA codes and directives
  • Experience in the oil and gas sector is preferred
  • Ability to problem-solve effectively
  • Has the ability to manage multiple ongoing projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience in the use of Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI/Intools) is an asset
  • Registration through APEGA as a /. (ENG) is an asset
