Position: Pastoral Minister
Location: South Windsor Catholic Family of Parishes, 1400 Cabana Rd. W., Windsor, ON
Commitment: 35 hours per week – willingness and ability to work evenings and weekends Compensation: Wage will be based on experience and in accordance with Diocesan policies. This position is eligible for participation in the DOL’s lay benefit plan and pension program.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Pastor, the Pastoral Minister is responsible for various areas of faith formation, program coordination and delivery in working with elementary school-aged children in our supported schools. The Pastoral Minister is responsible for the evangelization, development, and support of the liturgical, sacramental and community life of the parishes. The Pastoral Minister will work as a team player in partnership with the Parish Team.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES:

• Works with the Parish Liturgy Commission to develop and support the liturgical life of the parishes.
• Coordinates, facilitates and participates in the formation of catechumens, the proper celebration of the “Rite of Christian Initiation”, and the Sacramental preparation of children with Confirmation, Eucharist, and Reconciliation.
• Engages in pastoral care of parishioners which may include visitation of the sick, elderly, and homebound, organizing celebrations for them, ensuring they receive the Eucharist, and ensuring their pastoral needs are met.
• Establishes and participates in various programs and activities which help to strengthen and enhance the spiritual life of the parish such as small faith communities, scripture study, etc.
• Facilitates days of prayer and/or times of retreat.
• Recruits, trains and coordinates volunteer ministries within the parish family in accordance to required Diocesan protocols and policies.
• Other duties of a similar nature as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor of Arts or Master’s degree in Pastoral / Lay Ecclesial Ministry or in Religious Studies.
• Certificate in Family Ministry and Youth Programs.
• Active practicing Catholic – letter of recommendation from Pastor is required.
• Good working knowledge of the evangelizing mission of the Church.
• Leadership qualities; organizational skills; teaching skills; strong communication skills.
• Ability to work independently, as well as successfully as part of a team.
• Skills in volunteer recruitment, training, and support.
• Flexible hours of work, some evenings, and weekends.
• Reliable transportation to travel throughout the community and diocese.
• Must be flexible and adaptive to the different cultural traditions within the family of parishes.

A Vulnerable Sector police record check as deemed suitable by the Diocese of London will be required of the successful candidate.
