The Faculty of Open Learning and Career Development (OLCD) invites applications a career-stream appointment as Instructor of the Transition Year Program. This position is designated for candidates who identify as Indigenous (especially Mi'kmaq) and/or African Nova Scotian. (See below for details.)

The Faculty of OLCD develops and delivers innovative and diverse lifelong learning experiences for more than 5000 students annually to help them navigate the changing world of learning and work. The Transition Year Program (TYP) is designed to prepare high school students, particularly those from communities that have been marginalized, for all aspects of academic life at Dalhousie.

Responsibilities as Instructor include teaching at least one full-year course in the Transition Year Program, and potentially developing courses in their specific areas of interest. The Instructor will also be required to perform administrative duties related to the Transition Year Program.

Required Qualifications
· A completed Master’s degree in a relevant field of study. (Education is preferred, but arts or science degrees will also be considered relevant.)
· Significant experience as a leader, scholar, and administrator within an academic institution. · Strong communication skills (written and spoken) with a variety of stakeholder groups. · Breadth of experience and proven leadership in equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility (EDIA) and Indigenization. · Collegiality and collaborative leadership skills to further build community and engagement across all members of the School.
· Demonstrated excellence (or demonstrated potential for excellence) in teaching at different levels of study.
Preferred qualification
· A completed PhD in a relevant field of study (education, arts or sciences) is strongly preferred.
