Job Purpose

Responsible for monitoring product, paperwork, and employee practices throughout the plant via on-the-line checks and continuous department touring, as well as maintaining technical production information that is issued to the production floor.

Duties and Responsibilities

The associate’s primary functions and responsibilities are as follows:

  • Responsible for ensuring that the product manufactured meets the Company’s finished product quality expectations, as per customer requirements.
  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team and ensure that Company’s quality & food safety expectations are being met and understood by all team members.
  • Perform process checks throughout the production, packaging, sanitation, and warehouse functions of the company including GMP, metal detection, label and coding verification, general hygiene and safety, as well as in-process and finished product weights and record on Quality audit report.
  • Complete internal, external, and glass and plastic inspections and issue work orders when required.
  • Complete daily Personnel verification record.
  • Work well in a self-paced environment while meeting scheduled quality check expectations (minimum of 2 per shift).
  • Ensure operators/crew leaders/packers are following proper area and personnel GMP’s, and reporting deviations to appropriate supervisors.
  • Ensure proper procedures are being followed during regular, customer-specific, organic, and allergen changeovers.
  • Perform Allergen swabbing verification during Allergen changeovers and assist in Allergen validation as directed by QA supervisor.
  • Validate the line cleaning via visual inspection and line swabbing as required.
  • Verify that the process steps are being followed, operators are completing checks as required, and completing proper documentation including but not limited to the recording of lot numbers, line checks, recording deviations and corrective actions when required, label compliance, CCP Checks, and proper labelling of WIP and other finished goods. Communicate any deviations noted to appropriate supervisor.
  • Verify that product meets all required specifications for food safety (i.e. Appropriate employee handling).
  • Ensure any non-conforming product is placed on HOLD. Complete the proper documentation and enter the Hold in the System and the Hold log. Collect samples for further evaluation. Results and samples are to be sent on to Quality Supervisor.
  • When informed of product designation, collect all tags and update proper sections of the hold documentation. Hand in the completed package to Quality Supervisor as soon as this is done for each item on hold. Properly put pallets back together before handing over to shipping.
  • When new products are launched, collect samples for shelf life validations and send to customers when required.
  • Responsible for Expired product evaluations.
  • Collect and place retain samples in the retain sample storage cage. Log the retain samples in a database before placing in the retain sample cage. Ensure that the product Shelf Life/Retain cage is organized appropriately (i.e. By date and tidy).
  • Complete a QAS (Quality Attribute Sheet) record when required. There is a QAS binder with the Quality Attribute Sheets for the products requiring this evaluation to be completed.
  • Responsible for Flour tailings and Flour Filter checks.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
  • Follow Health and Safety rules and regulations.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Great attention to detail with accuracy, especially in regard to product specifications.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Working Conditions

  • Always work indoors.
  • Compliant with ventilation, cleanliness, space, lighting, and temperature.

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting involved.
  • May repeat the same movement.
  • Typing involved.
