The Keller Group is pleased to partner with our client in the Kitchener area in their search for an Assistant Controller. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive in problem solving, has strong organization and planning skills and is able to lead in a high-performance environment. You will be responsible for maintaining all procedures and controls, cash management, general ledger, reconciliation and reporting activities.

Responsibilities of the Assistant Controller:

  • Work with team members to ensure adherence to deadlines for reporting and month end activities
  • Prepare and enter journal entries and maintain G/L accounts
  • Conduct monthly account reconciliations and analysis
  • Analyze and improve systems and processes to ensure accuracy and efficiency
  • Provide leadership, oversight and mentorship to the accounting team ensuring goals and deadlines are met
  • Analyze budgets and financial statements for discrepancies
  • Ad hoc requests as assigned

Qualifications of the Assistant Controller:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in accounting or finance
  • 5 - 7 years of related experience
  • CPA designation or working towards CPA
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Knowledge of various ERP systems
  • Strong written, verbal and collaboration skills
  • Positive attitude, able to challenge current systems in a constructive manner
