Our utilities client is seeking a SR Business Intelligence Specialist with BI tools and data warehousing experience with a focus on transforming data into meaningful insights for the business.

Overview:

The Business Intelligence Specialist will leverage data to provide actionable insights that drive strategic decisions and improve business outcomes. The role focuses on transforming data into meaningful insights through meticulous data management, statistical analysis, and data visualization for data-driven decision-making. This position combines business acumen with technical skills in BI tools and data warehousing. The Business Intelligence Specialist will be integral to a collaborative team, working closely with cross-functional teams, including front-end developers, designers, and other key members. Together, they will produce impactful solutions that align with client requirements. The role involves transforming raw data into compelling insights through intuitive and visually appealing reports and dashboards, requiring the team's collective effort.

Responsibilities:

  • Integrating data from multiple sources such as databases, spreadsheets, and cloud services into Power BI datasets and ensuring accurate, timely, and reliable data.
  • Data cleaning and preprocessing to remove inaccuracies, inconsistencies, and duplicates. Transforming raw data into a structured format suitable for analysis and appropriately handling missing data and outliers.
  • Collaborating with business stakeholders to gather, understand, and analyze business requirements to design data models and visualizations that meet stakeholders' needs.
  • Developing detailed reports and dashboards to present data insights, helping stakeholders understand the data and make informed decisions.
  • Analyzing data to identify trends, patterns, and insights using statistical methods and techniques.
  • Conducting statistical analyses to validate hypotheses, developing predictive models to forecast trends and outcomes using Python and R, and evaluating the performance and accuracy of statistical models.
  • Supporting business decision-making by communicating findings and insights effectively to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Providing data-driven recommendations to empower informed decisions.
  • Creating and optimizing data queries, transformations, and calculations using Power Query M and DAX (Data Analysis Expressions).
  • Documenting data sources, methodologies, and analysis processes, maintaining clear and comprehensive documentation for reproducibility and transparency.
  • Collaborating with data engineers to ensure data quality, integrity, and performance.
  • Implementing security measures to control access to sensitive data within Power BI reports and dashboards, reflecting our dedication to data security.
  • Monitoring and optimizing Power BI performance, troubleshooting issues, and implementing enhancements as needed.

Must Haves:

  • 8+ years as a Business Intelligence Specialist
  • Designing and managing business intelligence, analytics, and data visualization solutions in an Agile setting.
  • Python and SQL experience
  • Statistical methods and techniques for data analysis, including hypothesis testing, regression analysis, and machine learning algorithms.
  • Power BI Desktop for building reports, dashboards, and data models.

Nice to Have:

  • Certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate or Microsoft Certified: Power BI Developer Associate.
  • Microsoft PL-300 certification or equivalent.
  • Ability to work with large datasets and perform complex data analysis.
  • Data integration techniques and ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes.
  • Experience with other Microsoft Power Platform services.
  • Experience modeling AI and ML algorithms in R/Python and other technologies.
  • A bachelor's or master's degree in business, economics, statistics, computer science, mathematics, information systems, or a related field.
