Alberta Infrastructure designs, builds, manages, and maintains government-owned and operated facilities, and collaborates with other ministries to ensure that schools, hospitals and government facilities infrastructure meet the needs of Alberta’s population.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Health Facilities Planning, you will be responsible for providing coordination, guidance, expertise, and direction to program ministries (Health, Mental Health and Addiction, etc.), key stakeholders (Alberta Health Services) and consultants in the development of business cases and other preliminary planning processes prior to design and construction. This includes supporting a wide range of capital planning activities including land planning, assessment of existing infrastructure and long-term strategic facility planning.

The Health Planning Project Lead also plays a key role in the following areas:

  1. Representing the branch and department when providing consultation and guidance to project stakeholders and ensuring project requirements are being met.
  2. Working with consultants and project stakeholders to ensure solutions identified in business cases consider the changing impacts of technologies and industry standards on the delivery of healthcare infrastructure.
  3. Reviewing and providing input on issues relating to the healthcare facilities capital program and emerging issues with Health and Alberta Health Services and providing recommendations to senior department representatives that lead to priority projects proceeding with well-defined scopes and budgets.

Qualifications
  1. University graduation in a related field (Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, etc.)
  2. Four years progressively responsible related experience (capital planning, interior design, engineering, construction project management, etc.)

Equivalencies will be considered on a one-for-one basis.

The following will be considered assets:

  1. Working experience writing requests for proposals and evaluating proposals.
  2. Working knowledge of health facility planning activities.
  3. Working knowledge of Alberta Government and Infrastructure policies, regulations, processes, and standards.
  4. Working knowledge of provincial and national building standards and codes.
