We are searching for a motivated Junior Accountant who wants an entry level position to grow their skills and responsibilities as they work towards their accounting designation.

As part of a team reporting to the Accounting & Office Manager, the Junior Accountant is primarily responsible for data entry, review, follow-up and reconciliations for Accounts Payable, Sales Orders, Accounts Receivable, Inventory and Production Orders. Responsibilities may include written and verbal communication with internal and external parties as well as Document Control and Retention. Accuracy, attention to detail and an eye for reasonability are critical to the role, as is an organized approach to ensure all follow up items are completed in a timely manner.

There will also be some general office administration responsibilities which include (but not limited to) assisting with ordering office supplies, monitoring company email accounts, answering general phone lines and helping to ensure that visitor sign in protocols are followed as well as other related accounting duties assigned by the Accounting and Office Manager from time to time.

We are looking for candidates who are reliable, detail oriented, accurate, and able to adapt to more responsibility as they settle into their position.

RESPONSIBILITES:

Perform Accounting and Office functions in the following areas:

· Process Purchase Order receipts and returns to vendors. Work with purchasing, receiving and shipping departments to proactively resolve issues.

· Print invoices, obtain packing slips/approvals, process invoices/credits for weekly payments. Resolve any issues with vendors and internal stakeholders.

· Act as backup to processing Sales Orders / Accounts Receivable / Cash Receipts.

· Process Inventory Transfers, process adjustments, support with month end physical inventory counts. Support Accounting Manager to resolve inventory discrepancies and liaison with Manufacturing, Quality and Warehouse departments to resolve issues.

· Verify and record production orders and follow up on discrepancies.

· Assist with cross-training and update training documents as needed.

· Enforce good documentation control & retention practices.

· Assist with special projects and requests.

Office Administration:

  • Ordering office supplies.
  • Gathering and distributing Mail.
  • Monitoring generic company email accounts.
  • Answering general phone line.
  • Greet visitors and ensure visitor sign in protocols are followed
  • Assist with special projects and events.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Excellent time and task priority management
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong Excel and Word skills
  • Strong attention to details
  • Compliance with all appropriate policies, procedures and legislation
  • Understanding of food manufacturers requirement for lot number control would be an asset
  • Experience with an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software would be an asset
