Position:

Bayview Glen is looking for a full-time Upper School Mathematics and Science Teacher to join our team, commencing in August . Reporting to our Head of Upper School and working closely with our Math and Science Departments, you’ll create a positive educational climate for students to learn Mathematics and Science at the Intermediate/Senior level (Grade 9 to 12). Responsibilities:
  1. Preparing, developing, and implementing engaging lesson plans for students consistent with the Ministry of Education curriculum
  2. Using a variety of teaching and support strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students
  3. Incorporating a variety of visual aids, textbooks, creative projects, and technology to gain and enhance student involvement
  4. Evaluating each student’s learning, understanding, and performance through class work, assignments, and tests
  5. Providing ongoing additional instruction and support in Mathematics and Science
  6. Fostering healthy relationships with students and faculty to create an enriched learning environment
  7. Maintaining effective communication with students, parents, and faculty
  8. Completing required record keeping such as student attendance, grades, and report cards
  9. Participating in extra-curricular coaching, co-curricular, and supervision responsibilities
Requirements:

What You’ll Need:

  • An Undergraduate Degree with an area of specialization in Mathematics and/or Science
  • A Bachelor of Education Degree at the Intermediate/Senior level and a member, in good standing, with the Ontario College of Teachers
  • A minimum of three years’ experience teaching all levels of High School Mathematics and/or Science, including Advanced Placement classes
  • Additional qualifications in Math, Science, and AP Math and Science considered an asset
  • A demonstrated passion for Mathematical and Scientific theories, concepts, and analysis
  • A thorough understanding of current educational practices in the areas of curriculum planning and assessment
  • Willingness and enthusiasm towards participating in the co-curricular program and school community
  • A commitment toward continued professional growth and development
  • Strong interpersonal, organization, communication, and time management skills
  • A demonstrated commitment to DEI principles within your teaching practice
  • Experience in an Independent School would be considered a definite asset
