Assistant Director of Care – Quality of Care Nurse

Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of Care (ADOC)-Quality of Care Nurse supports the Director of Care (DOC) in ensuring a continuum of quality resident care, ongoing education, evaluation, and quality improvement in the provision of excellence in resident-focused services and programs for the residents of the Ukrainian Canadian Care Centre.
Key Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the DOC, this position is involved in the philosophy of resident care, statement of purpose, goals and objectives, policies, and procedures.
- Provides exemplary leadership in the management of the care team in health promotion, implementation of best practices, and the delivery of quality resident care. Ensures the day-to-day operations are efficient and effective.
- Leads in the development, design, and oversight of the delivery of quality improvement programs and projects and implements quality indicators and strategic action plans to improve quality resident care in coordination with the Quality and Risk Management Program.
- Under the direction of the DOC, conducts the department staff performance evaluations.
- Oversees the operation of the department in the absence of the DOC.
- Ensures quality care delivery by overseeing the clinical practice of the RPNs and the personal care services provided by the PSWs. Reports areas of concern and communicates training needs to DOC.
- Creates an environment that supports collaborative practice and maintains a focus on resident safety and clinical outcomes through the promotion of critical thinking and evidence-based practices.
- In collaboration with the IPAC Lead and others, ensures the implementation of the Infection Control Program in accordance with TPH, MOH/LTC, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Participates and collaborates in meetings of Resident Care and Management Committees.
- Audits for the maintenance of all standards and guidelines established by the Ministry of Long Term Care, the College of Nurses of Ontario, and other applicable legislation.
Qualifications:
- Current Certificate of Competence as a Registered Nurse from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- 5 years of gerontology nursing experience with a minimum of 3 years in healthcare management preferred.
- Highly effective interpersonal, problem-solving, conflict resolution, and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication skills and strong coaching, mentoring, and facilitating skills.
- Experience in quality management and implementation of performance measures and indicators.
