Research Consultant
Ready for a new adventure? Passionate about research? Enjoy working with a small (but mighty) team of like-minded individuals? Thinkwell is looking for a new researcher to join our team, someone to develop with us as we grow. If this interests you, we’d love to see your CV.
Thinkwell is a boutique market research and organizational strategy firm with offices in Halifax, NS and St. John’s, NL. Our success is driven by our desire to ‘delight’ our clients and develop insightful solutions to help their organizations and people succeed. We are looking for someone who is driven, hard-working, and thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. If you like a challenge, are skilled at managing competing demands, and are keen to work with a wide range of clients across different industries this job will be a great fit for you.
As a team member, you will manage multiple projects simultaneously. Knowing how to schedule and prioritize your work and how to focus in a fast-paced environment is key. You will work collaboratively with Thinkwell team members and clients on project design and execution, but many of your daily tasks will be independent in nature and require you to self-manage your workload to meet project timelines.
In addition to standard research skills, we are looking for a critical thinker who enjoys synthesizing, analyzing, and interpreting information and data to provide clients with the evidence-based insights they need to make informed decisions.
The benefits of working with us? Lots of learning and growth opportunities, a flexible work environment, and a great team.
Job TasksProject Design
- Provide input on the approach and design of projects (e.g., methodology, timeline, etc.)
- Assist with survey design, focus group discussion guides, and interview scripts
Secondary Research
- Search and find peer-reviewed and non-peer-reviewed literature, conduct jurisdictional scans, and find best practice information
- Summarize secondary research in written form, using tables and other methods to organize and present the data in the most appealing and easy-to-understand manner
- Synthesize research and information, critically review it, and summarize the most important pieces considering the project context
Data Analysis
- Qualitative analysis, including thematic analysis and coding open-ended survey data
- Basic quantitative data analysis (frequencies, descriptive stats, crosstabs)
- Interpret results and identify recommendations based on the findings
Report Writing
- Compile draft reports for both quantitative and qualitative projects in PowerPoint and Word formats
- Write for multiple audiences (e.g., government, business, public, etc.)
Facilitation
- Facilitate focus groups (in person and virtually), conduct interviews
- University Degree (e.g., undergraduate honours or graduate program) or equivalent experience in a social science or research-focused field
- Minimum two years of demonstrated research experience
- Advanced knowledge of qualitative and quantitative research methods and analysis. Familiarity with Excel, DisplayR, SPSS, NVivo, or analysis software an asset
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated professionalism
- Comfortable communicating with diverse groups of different sizes and backgrounds in person and virtually
- Demonstrated report writing skills
- Competent with basic computer software including Microsoft Office, Google suite, and virtual meeting software
At Thinkwell, our success depends on attracting and nurturing the right talent. We offer many opportunities for growth and learning, through a dynamic work environment. We truly value our employees and want you to get as much out of working with our team as we get from having you on the team.
This position offers a flexible work arrangement. Employees can work remotely and/or at one of our office locations in St. John’s, NL, or Halifax, NS.
How to ApplyPlease send your resume to hello@thinkwellresearch.ca by Friday, August 23, 2024.
