We continue to grow and today are looking for a committed, talented, star to join our team as our Accounting Intern.

Position Summary/Objective:

As the Accounting Intern, you will be responsible for assisting with special projects within the Controllership team with a special focus on Accounts Payable.

The Accounting Intern plays a critical role in supporting the Finance department to ensure that all accounting processes and documentation are completed in a timely and accurate manner.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate and uphold Riverside's core values
  • Gain working knowledge of the company's accounting software tools: SAP, SAP Concur
  • Create SOP's for period end activities
  • Support the period end close process, including preparing and analyzing working papers for fixed assets, prepaids, good receipt, bank reconciliation
  • Review the monthly credit card statements to ensure entries and sales taxes were recorded accurately
  • Prepare and post period end journal entries
  • Support other areas of the finance department including: Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Treasury, Tax
  • Maintenance of accounting files and records including but not limited to the following sources: vendors, bank, CRA, government programs, leases, insurance
  • Other ad-hoc duties as assigned

Reporting Relationships

The Accounting Intern reports to the Financial Reporting Manager.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with a high degree of accuracy
  • Excellent interpersonal, OWNERSHIP and communication skills; good mathematical skills
  • TEAM player with ability to work effectively across organizations and cross culturally interfacing with all levels of management in a global setting
  • PASSIONATE with a positive attitude with a desire to learn and collaborate
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills, self-starter with a high level of initiative and ADAPTABILITY
  • Demonstrates HUMILITY throughout the company on a daily basis
  • Aptitude to exhibit, RESPECT and protect Riverside's Core Values in a changing environment
  • Keeps the work atmosphere FUN by keeping it light and welcoming
  • Strong computer skills, intermediate level or above for Microsoft Office 2007 Word, Excel and Outlook
