Process Specialist
General Scope of Responsibilities:
The Continuous Improvement Team is an integral part of the Kanata dryer fabric manufacturing team. The main function of the team is to optimize processes and ensure manufactured products meet customer specifications.
Under the direction of the Continuous Improvement Team Leader, this position is responsible for liaising with manufacturing teams daily to ensure that quality standards are met, roadblocks are removed and that processes operate efficiently.
The process specialist will be responsible for designing and testing process improvements, improving product quality, and leading Lean manufacturing projects.
The position will also support various aspects of CI operations such as maintaining the Quality Management System, New Product Development, Innovation, Non-Conformances, Corrective Actions, Customer Complaints, Best Practices and Operational Excellence.
Specific Responsibilities:
- Design and test process improvements
- Lean manufacturing projects, aligned with key business objectives
- Technical support for manufacturing teams, product managers, dryer champions and field associates
- Investigate and address customer complaints
- Root cause analysis and disposition of product and process non-conformances
- Data collection and analysis
- Maintain databases
- Production card verification and approval
- Other CIT duties as required
Reporting Relationships:
Coordination: Continuous Improvement Specialists, Manufacturing Team, Scheduling / Order entry / Materials
Supervision Received: Work is assigned with specific objectives and instructions including deadlines and priorities.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Line: None
Position Requirements:
- Quality Assurance background or equivalent
- Ability to serve as a team member, project leader, facilitator and trainer
- Passion for continuous improvement
Education & Years of Experience:
- Process Specialist, College diploma in Quality Assurance or Mechanical Engineering Technology
- Lean Six Sigma Certification
Skills & Attributes:
- Excellent analytical and logic skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Proficient at multi-tasking
- Strong attention to details
- Strong project management and leadership skills
- In-depth knowledge of engineering design and applied technologies
- Works well with internal and external customers
- Dependable and adaptable
- Experience with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Cognos, JD Edwards and MES
Effort & Working Conditions:
Normal work environment allows the associate to sit comfortably and move about freely, not confined to a workstation. There may be some need to lift light articles. The physical environment is clean and climate controlled. There is frequent involvement in the manufacturing environment where sensory attention is required.
