GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Senior Financial Analyst, Sales & Marketing Finance is a key player within the Finance team, supporting and partnering with the Sales and Marketing teams to profitably grow the business. The primary responsibility is to provide best-in-class analytics and controls to augment customer and product profitability.

Additional responsibilities include identifying pricing opportunities (by preparing customer/product price/profitability analyses, evaluating different pricing strategies, partnering with Marketing to review competitor pricing and conduct comparative analytics), cash improvement initiatives and trade spend management in order to maximize profitability. The role will also contribute to improve Sun Gro’s internal systems and processes to maintain high controls and improve decision making support tools.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

BUSINESS PARTNER:

  1. Be a supporting financial business partner to the sales team, acting on pricing strategies and determination of account profitability for existing and new business opportunities.
  2. Act as supporting financial business partner to Sales and Marketing teams within scope and tracking of customer and product profitability, sales and customer spend (rebates, deductions/fines, promotional support) analysis, marketing program (ad & promo) spend analysis.
  3. Communicate, educate, and inform other team members and departments on cost drivers and variances impacting sales profitability.
  4. Collaborate with sales and marketing departments on developing and implementing competitive pricing strategies.
  5. Collaborate with SKU Setup in completing Finished Good pricing to support the Customer Care, Billing, Supply Chain, Sales, and Marketing functions.
  6. Evaluate and synchronize price variances with Billing department.
ANALYTICS:
  1. Support the Sales and Marketing departments by conducting analyses of sales opportunities and new product launches.
  2. Conduct a thorough analysis and development of new market opportunities based on current customer base and geographical coverage.
  3. Analyze pricing data from industry standards, previous sales trends and competitors and report data to decision-makers.
  4. Identify appropriate sales and clearance prices to increase customer traffic.
  5. Prepare and analyze reports on customer, SKU, and product history.
  6. Perform ad hoc data analytics as required.
REPORTING:
  1. Monitor profitability of existing and quoted business and provide reporting thereupon.
  2. Provide financial visibility, including profitability, revenue, and pricing for new and existing opportunities.
  3. Complete accurate and timely month/year end sales management reports (Top 20, Customer P&Ls).
  4. Track customer engagement to develop effective pricing strategies for products and offerings.
  5. Develop dynamic pricing tools to effectively respond to changing market needs and trends.
  6. Prepare and present pricing analysis findings to management, marketing team and sales personnel.
FORECAST & BUDGET:
  1. Development of financial plans including partnering with Sales team to budget and forecast for the short and long term.
  2. Compare sales trends to previous periods and budget, and determine the root cause of decreases/increases.
  3. Forecast revenue based on sales volumes, production costs, profit margins.
MASTER DATA:
  1. Maintain Master Data controls within Microsoft Business Central enterprise resource planning tool for Sales and Finance.
  2. Coordinate with Transportation and Logistics in maintenance of freight tables and confirmation of rates and costs associated with delivered finished goods pricing as they pertain to sales profitability.
DEVELOPMENT:
  1. Remain current on market conditions and market pricing on competing product categories and develop recommendations to changes in business or product category pricing strategy.
  2. Keep informed on pricing analysis methods and industry trends.
  3. Assist with special projects as requested.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
  1. Advanced Excel skills and Jet reporting.
  2. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  3. Ability to manage multiple priorities with a sense of urgency.
  4. Must be able to plan, organize, and prioritize objectives and duties.
  5. Ability to understand issues and the impact on financial results.
  6. Ability to communicate effectively with others and work on a cross-functional team.
  7. Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  8. Demonstrated ability to quickly adapt; maintain focus and a high degree of accuracy while working with complex data in an environment of ever-changing deadlines, priorities and requirements.
  9. Must have a high level of communication skills, collaboration skills as well as the ability to perform independently.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  1. Senior Financial Analyst with 10+ years of experience preferred.
  2. Financial Analyst with 3-5 years of relevant experience minimum are encouraged to apply.
  3. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Commerce.
  4. CPA designation or working towards achieving.
  5. Finance experience required, with experience in pricing, reporting and variance analysis preferred.
