AECOM’s Whitby team is currently seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our growing Buildings and Places business unit. The Buildings and Places is a vibrant and growing business line which delivers architectural, engineering and project management services for construction projects. Project assignments may include, although not limited to, water / waste water, institutional, and transit facilities.

Responsibilities
  1. Providing engineering and design for various electrical systems as part of multi-disciplinary projects for public and private sector clients including buildings, roadway lighting and servicing, wastewater pumping stations, water treatment plants, schools and municipal buildings such as parks and band shells.
  2. Prepare schematic, detailed design and contract documents including drawings, specifications and cost estimates.
  3. Prepare reports and engineering studies including feasibility, condition assessment and power system studies.
  4. Provide technical and administrative support through all phases of the project.
  5. Complete lighting analysis using AGi32.
  6. Perform contract administration responsibilities:
    • Attend site meetings, perform site reviews and prepare site review reports
    • Review shop drawings
    • Prepare SIs and CCNs
    • Review contractor change quotations
    • Review progress draws
    • Review verification and test reports
    • Prepare occupancy and final signoff letters
  7. Assist in the overall team growth endeavors by:
    • Contributing in business development activities including client relationship management, project proposals and pursuing new business opportunities.
    • Acting as a trusted advisor and a mentor to junior staff
Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering + 4 years of relevant experience doing engineering and design work for various electrical systems (lighting, fire alarm, communications systems) on various types of buildings projects. Demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education may be considered. P.Eng designation required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in electrical power systems. Familiar with building, electrical and relevant codes including: OBC, OESC, ULC-S524, NFPA 820, CSA Z462 and various IEEE, CSA and UL standards. Must possess good communication, time management and problem-solving skills. Must be able to work to tight schedules, control project budgets and motivate staff to do the same. Additional certifications such as LEED, LC, RCDD, CEM, etc. are desired. Familiarity with power analysis software such Etap and SKM. Project management experience and training desirable.
