We operate two adjoining hotel properties - Sheraton Parkway Toronto North Hotel and Best Western Parkway Hotel, conveniently located at Highway 7 and Leslie Street in Richmond Hill, and a 25, sq foot health & racquet club. There are 3 pools - 1 outdoor & 2 indoor. We are accessible via YRT /VIVA transit, and Highways 7, and . This position is responsible for managing all engineering and maintenance operations, including building, grounds and physical plant, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and related equipment. Must have attention to safety, security and asset protection. Accountability for managing department budget, capital expenditure projects, preventative maintenance, energy conservation and maintaining regulatory requirements. Leads the emergency response team for all facility issues.

The duties of the Director of Engineering include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Develops and executes capital projects including 5 year replacement plan(s)
  2. Provides direct supervision to skilled, semi-skilled and non-skilled maintenance associates and external service contractors
  3. Manages the physical plant including equipment, refrigeration, HVAC, plumbing, water treatment, electrical and life safety systems
  4. Maintains and operates equipment at optimum effectiveness, efficiency and safety
  5. Establishes and manages an effective guest rooms preventative maintenance program
  6. Ensures compliance with all engineering policies, standards and procedures
  7. Manages department’s controllable expenses to achieve or exceed budgeted goals
  8. Selects and orders or purchases new equipment, supplies and furnishings
  9. Inspects and evaluates the physical condition of facilities in order to determine the type of work required
  10. Recommends or arranges for additional services such as repair work, renovations, and the replacement of furnishings and equipment
  11. Manages the day-to-day operations of Engineering
  12. Maintains accurate logs and records as required
  13. Handles guest problems and complaints effectively
  14. Empowers associates to provide excellent guest service
  15. Displays leadership in guest hospitality by exemplifying excellent guest service and creating a positive atmosphere for guest relations
  16. Helps establish priority for total property maintenance needs
  17. Ensure on-going communication occurs in all areas of responsibility to create awareness of business objectives awareness of expectations and recognition of exemplary performance
  18. Celebrates successes and publicly recognizes the contributions of team members
  19. Establishes and maintains open, collaborative relationships with associates
  20. Ensures associates are treated fairly and equitably
  21. Stives to improve service performance
