About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Manager, Planning, Quality & System Performance, the Senior Analyst, Policy and Planning participates in the development of the strategic direction of Public Health by providing leadership in the areas of policy development, planning and accountability, provincial standards, best and promising practices, provincial Standard Operating Procedures and more broadly, evidence-based decision making. The Senior Analyst provides strategic analysis and advice for the advancement of defined priority areas according to Public Health’s priorities and the identified strategic directions of Nova Scotia Health.
The Senior Analyst assists in designing a provincial integrated plan for developing strategic and operational plans that support excellence, PH priorities and goals. This position is provincial in nature; therefore, a balance of remote and onsite presence is required.
About You
We would love to hear from you if you have the following:
- Baccalaureate degree in public health, health promotion, community development, health administration or other relevant field
- 3 years of relevant leadership experience and providing strategic, evidence-based decision support with progressive accountabilities for standards development, planning, and implementation
- Master’s Degree in a health-related discipline, health administration, business administration or related subject considered an asset
- Eligible for registration with relevant health discipline/college or association is an asset
- Certification or additional training in Quality Improvement, Design Thinking, Process Mapping, IAP2, Project Management and/or Change Management an asset
- Demonstrated knowledge of public health system
- Excellent leadership, organizational and decision skills
- Experience in leading complex change
- Expertise in healthy public policy processes, public health sciences, healthy equity, health promotion practice and non-communicable disease prevention
- Evidence-based collaborative problem solving of complex multifaceted issues
- Strong presentation and public speaking skills that are responsive to audience needs
- Competency in evidence-based practice and critical appraisal
- Strong analysis and synthesis skills to inform strategy development and organizational planning
- Expertise in financial planning and monitoring
- Demonstrated expertise in project management and knowledge of issue tracking, issue management and escalation
- Knowledge of quality improvement methodologies and approaches
- Experience in using evidence-based decision making to support workforce planning and development
- Ability to analyze and interpret, monitor, and report on quantitative and qualitative data
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
- Valid Nova Scotia Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle

Compensation and Benefits
$37.60 - $47.01 Hourly
Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan. (Permanent Long Assignments Only)
