Senior Mechanical Engineer, Asset Management

Position Summary:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer is a critical role within the engineering team, providing in-house technical expertise for equipment assessments, asset health analysis, and collaboration with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and the maintenance reliability function. This position is responsible for developing and implementing asset tagging and identification standards, enhancing the parts inventory management through cross-functional collaboration, and ensuring the application of technical standards and best practices in asset management activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-house technical expertise for equipment assessments, conducting thorough asset health analyses.
  • Develop and implement asset tagging and identification standards, ensuring consistent practices across all Sofina Canada sites.
  • Collaborate with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) and plant maintenance team to leverage their expertise in maintaining and standardizing asset performance.
  • Work cross-functionally to improve parts inventory management, including participating in regular audits to ensure accuracy and support efficient maintenance practices.
  • Collaborate closely with the Project Manager, National Asset Management to ensure that technical standards and best practices are consistently applied across all asset management activities.
  • Collaborate with maintenance and reliability function, ensuring technical alignment of technical with overall business objectives.
  • Engage in continuous learning and development to stay abreast of industry trends and changes in regulatory and compliance for asset management

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field
  • Professional Engineering (P. Eng) designation is required.
  • 5 years of experience in mechanical engineering, with a focus on asset management and equipment assessments in a manufacturing environment.
  • RCM or equivalent certification would be considered an asset.
  • Proven track record of successful collaboration with OEMs and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage complex technical challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to provide clear guidance and support to site teams.
  • This role will require 75% of travel to our Canada sites
