DiscoveryGarden is seeking a highly motivated Operations Leader to join the local team in Charlottetown, PEI. Reporting directly to the CEO, the Operations Leader will play a key role in driving the operational efficiency of the organization as it enters a new phase of growth. The successful candidate will be in a supportive role in overseeing all aspects of our day-to-day operations, including finance, owning the services/agency function of the business, HR and performance management.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with the leadership team to develop and execute strategic initiatives that support the company's goals and objectives, including following an annual planning, budgeting and business management (KPI/OKR) cycle to monitor and track progress.
  • Financial Management: Ownership of finance, accounting, and bookkeeping functions. This includes monitoring and managing of operational budgets, reconciling AR/AP, maintaining banking/daily cash flow, identifying areas for cost savings, as well as managing the relationship with our accounting partner.
  • Operational Oversight: Oversee all operational activities, including project management, resource allocation, and performance tracking and front-line support
  • Process Improvement: Work with colleagues and industry partners to identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve operational efficiency, implementing best practices and tools as necessary.
  • Team Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance to the Operations team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Risk Management: Identify and mitigate operational risks, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.
  • Vendor Management: Manage relationships with third-party vendors and contractors, ensuring deliverables meet quality standards and contractual obligations.
  • Performance Measurement: Develop and implement KPIs and performance metrics, in line with business strategy (as articulated above) to measure the effectiveness of operational processes, drive continuous improvement and foster a strong and engaged workforce.
  • Communication: Serve as a liaison between the operations team and other departments, facilitating effective communication and collaboration both internally and to our clients.

Qualifications:

  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or equivalent.
  • Proven track record with an understanding of best-in-class financial, operational and people management practices.
  • Demonstrated project and budget management skills, including overseeing a multitude of projects at once (and ideally with a proficiency in project management tooling and methodologies).
  • Strong business acumen with a broad understanding of fundamental business principles, particularly those unique to the software services industry.
  • Strategic thinker with an analytical approach to problem-solving.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships both internally and externally.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada. Strong preference for candidates based in PEI, Canada.

Compensation:

  • Dependant on experience and qualifications
  • Director level = $95,000 to $125,000
  • Manager level = $75,000 to $105,000
