Interested?
Reporting to the VP, Legal and General Counsel and Corporate Secretary, this position is responsible for providing legal advice and services to all corporate and support functions within the Gibson Energy entities, including compliance with legal and regulatory obligations and legal policies and procedures. This position deals with routine as well as potentially difficult or complex legal matters and resolving such matters through the provision of expert counsel in collaboration with internal business stakeholders.
What You'll Be Doing
- Provides practical legal advice, expertise, and direction on a wide variety of legal matters to leadership and employees of all Gibson Energy entities.
- Ensures day-to-day business activities and ongoing business operations are carried out in compliance with all relevant Gibson Energy policies, industry standards and applicable laws and regulations.
- Ensures compliance with legal policies and assists with the maintenance, review, and revisions to such policies to reflect business needs and best-in-class governance.
- Assists in the preparation of legal documentation for the Board of Directors and provides support on other corporate secretarial matters.
- Assists in compliance with various continuous disclosure obligations and public company obligations and filings.
- Leads the negotiation, review and preparation of legal and commercial agreements in support of all Gibson Energy business units and support functions.
- Provides legal support on other corporate legal matters including acquisitions, divestitures, procurement, insurance, litigation management, labour and employment, financings, securities, banking, environmental, health and safety matters.
- Provides any other legal support required to fulfill the mandate of the VP, Legal and General Counsel and Corporate Secretary.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor Degree in Law (JD or LLB).
- Membership/eligibility for membership with the Law Society of Alberta.
- Minimum 5+ years of legal experience either through a law firm or corporation of at least similar size and scope to Gibson Energy.
- Public company experience (securities, continuous disclosure, etc.) is an asset.
- Energy industry experience, particularly in the midstream sector, is an asset.
