Essex County OPP Detachment Board – 1, Administrative Support

The Corporation of the Town of Tecumseh is currently recruiting for a highly motivated individual to fill the position of part-time position of Essex County OPP Detachment Board – 1, Administrative Support (up to twenty-four (24) hours per week; with a high degree of variability in hours from week-to-week).

Job Summary
Reporting to the Director Legislative Services, the part-time Administrative Support incumbent is responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to the Essex County OPP Detachment Board - 1. Responsibilities include handling sensitive political issues and public concerns, researching and compiling background information, arranging meetings and appointments, maintaining office administration and records management processes and procedures, responding to and/or redirecting inquiries/communications and completing special projects.

Additionally, this position will have an ongoing role in document accessibility initiatives across the Corporation.

Qualifications and Requirements
Applicants are required to have completed a recognized two [2] year college diploma in Business, or Municipal or Public Administration combined with three [3] years of directly related experience, preferably in a municipal or police setting. Candidates with knowledge of Community Safety and Policing Act, 2019 and other applicable legislation including municipal by-laws and policies are considered a strong asset.

Knowledge of agenda electronic management system, general office procedures, including preparing documents, maintaining strict confidentiality, use of tact and discretion when dealing with matters of a highly sensitive nature, sound problem solving, and organizational skills are required. The successful candidate must have knowledge of Board and Council meeting procedures along with demonstrated experience in organizing meetings, including preparation of agendas, taking minutes with attention to detail and accuracy.

Candidates must have knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer service, communication, teamwork, initiative/self-management, and accountability. In addition, computer literacy and proficiency in MS Office software applications and adaptability to program software are required.

Regular hours of work are between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm, up to twenty-four (24) hours per week; with a high degree of variability in hours from week-to-week.

Salary
The Town offers an hourly rate of $33.60 (2024), up to twenty-four (24) hours per week; with a high degree of variability in hours from week-to-week, in accordance with the Collective Agreement with CUPE Local 702.5. This position is subject to a probationary period of sixty (60) days of work.
