The Kitchen Coordinator will be responsible for managing the kitchen and food services at Camp Bickell for its private rentals from mid-May to mid-June and then for Camp Bickell itself from June 23 to July 27, 2024. There may be the occasional opportunity in August, should the candidate accept them, for private catered functions.

There will also be up to two cook positions who will be assisting the Kitchen Coordinator to manage the kitchen and food services. The cooking staff have their own dedicated cabins for accommodations. During camp operations, the cook staff will be off from Friday afternoon to Sunday morning.

The roles and responsibilities of the position are as follows:

  • Planning Meals: You will be responsible for meal planning. We have an existing meal plan to guide you and are always open to new ideas.
  • Ordering, Receiving, and Managing Food: You will be responsible for ordering, receiving, and managing all food shipments. Based on 2022 and 2023 pricing, we estimate the food budget being between $50,000.00 and $60,000.00.
  • Preparing and Plating Food: You will be responsible for preparing and plating all meals in compliance with safe food handling practices. Once plated, the counselling staff are responsible for serving the food.
  • Maintaining Cleanliness and Hygiene: You will be responsible for ensuring the kitchen space remains clean and follows all guidelines of the Porcupine Health Unit
  • Overseeing Dining Room Cleanliness and Place Settings: You will ensure that the cleaning staff keeps the dining area tidy and sets all of the places for meals. The cleaning staff is also responsible for dishwashing but you are expected to ensure the cleanliness of the cooking area.

Qualifications:

  • Certified Food Handler
  • Previous experience working in a kitchen

Salary: up to $10,000.00

Note: The previous Kitchen Coordinator will be available to provide direction and guidance.
