Description

Located out of our Calgary office, the Senior Advisor, Long Haul Pipeline Commercial will report to the Manager, Long Haul Pipeline Commercial in Inter Pipelines (IPL’s) Transportation Business Unit. The successful candidate will join a team responsible for commercial growth, development and management of IPL’s Long Haul pipeline systems customers and contracts. This dynamic role requires a strong commercial background and provides an opportunity to be involved in a rapidly growing business, through optimization projects, new infrastructure development projects, commercial management activities, and corporate development undertakings.

Key Activities and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for supporting, influencing and, in some cases, leading the strategic development of major energy infrastructure assets
  • Responsible for supporting, participating, and, in some cases, leading the negotiations for transportation and other service agreements
  • Organize and manage commercial operations activities, contract obligations and commitments related to specific agreements
  • Provide timely, professional, and responsive commercial support and expertise to internal stakeholders (Major Projects, Pipeline Operations, Logistics & Reporting, Legal, Finance, Marketing, and others)
  • Participate, and, in some cases, lead a thorough, organized, and responsible commercial development process for specific projects
  • Present development projects and other business information to executive team
  • Effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders as required
  • Be available as a commercial interface for external parties (shippers, customers, and other third-parties)
  • Provide leadership and analysis on potential commercial projects
  • Conduct and draw conclusions from detailed economic analysis to understand risks and viability of potential infrastructure investments
  • Support analysts responsible for creating and managing cash flow models for small, mid, and large-scale projects
  • Support and perform due diligence for economic lookback analysis on in-service projects
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the competitive landscape for midstream infrastructure in Canada and monitor the development and changes to the energy marketplace
  • Contribute to activities required to mitigate transportation development risks and pursue and develop opportunities
  • Facilitate the smooth transition of projects from a commercial development phase into a commercial operations phase
Education Skills and Experience
  • 10+ years’ experience in an oil and gas commercial development, commercial management, corporate development, or related role
  • Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Economics or Engineering
  • Deep understanding of the Alberta Oil Sands and Western Canadian Oil / Energy landscape and key participants
  • Strong communication, presentation, Excel, and PowerPoint skills

Hours

Permanent full-time
