The Laboratory Technician is responsible for microbiological tests and maintenance of associated records in the laboratory.
What you’ll do:
- Performs a variety of qualitative and quantitative microbiological tests on raw materials and finished products.
- Verifies and communicates results obtained, and makes entries into instrument logs, control charts, calibration records and worksheets, assuring the validity and traceability of the information.
- Monitors the availability of supplies needed for daily testing processes and notifies purchasing requirements.
- Prepares samples and quality control specimens; prepares and standardizes reagents and solutions when required.
- Maintains the laboratory work area and calibrates equipment per management system requirements.
- Completes and systematically maintains analytical data and quality control records on time.
- Performs routine laboratory duties including glassware cleaning and media preparation when required.
- Assists in identifying and recording any issues relating to samples, processes, and systems, initiating, recommending or providing solutions through designated channels.
- Completes assigned duties diligently and efficiently following company policies and safety rules.
- Directs the laboratory assistant as required.
What it takes to be successful in this role:
- Bachelor of Science degree in a subject in microbiology or biology with coverage in microbiology.
- Two years of working experience in a laboratory, with a minimum of one year of practical microbiological test experience.
- Proficient in English with excellent communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Experience with LIMS is an advantage.
