The Amazon Fulfillment Technologies Support (AFTS) Team is looking for a System Development Engineer who will join the team which supports all software application responsible for shipment, item availability, customer promises, shipment optimization and other functions related to fulfillment services process. Your problem resolving skill will benefit customers directly, insuring Amazon able to meet all its commitments to our customers.

Primary Responsibilities
  1. Troubleshooting, diagnosing and fixing production software issues
  2. Developing monitoring solutions
  3. Performing software maintenance and configuration
  4. Implementing the fix for internally developed code (Perl, Ruby, C/C++, JAVA)
  5. Performing SQL queries
  6. Updating, tracking and resolving technical challenges
  7. Building and developing tools which will automate daily operational activities

Your solutions will impact our customers directly This job requires you to constantly hit the ground running and your ability to learn quickly and work on disparate and overlapping tasks will define your success. High Impact production issues often require coordination between multiple Development, Operations and IT Support groups, so you get to experience a breadth of impact with various groups.

Key Job Responsibilities

The ideal candidate must be detail oriented, have superior verbal and written communication skills, strong organizational skills, able to juggle multiple tasks at once, able to work independently and can maintain professionalism under pressure. You must be able to identify problems before they happen and implement solutions that detect and prevent outages. Amazon Fulfillment Technologies (AFT) powers Amazon’s global fulfillment network. We invent and deliver software, hardware, and data science solutions that orchestrate processes, robots, machines, and people. We harmonize the physical and virtual world so Amazon customers can get what they want, when they want it.

Platform Engineering & Services

This team leverages data, process improvement, and innovative technologies to provide comprehensive engineering excellence services/solutions across AFT’s product portfolios.

Basic Qualifications
  1. 2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
  2. 2+ years of administrative experience in networking, storage systems, operating systems and hands-on systems engineering experience
  3. 1+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
  4. Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Python, Ruby, Golang, Java, C++, C#, Rust
  5. Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, operating systems)
Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with distributed systems at scale

- Experience with CI/CD pipelines build processes

- Experience with Linux/Unix

- Knowledge of a front-end language (Javascript, CSS, HTML, etc.)
