Job DescriptionWe are currently recruiting an experienced Powertrain Engine OBD Calibration Engineer to join our team supporting our client in the automotive industry.
NOTE:
- Remote
- Valid driver's license is required as well as a clean driving record
- Must be willing and able to travel to the USA, without restrictions, effective on the start date
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Developing and implementing best practice calibration solutions
- Develop new OBD strategies for engine and hybrid propulsion control systems
- Manage all technical aspects of the OBD diagnostic calibrations to meet CARB regulations
- Identify system requirements during system hardware design to ensure a robust diagnostic system
- Use standard instrumentation toolsets for data acquisition, storage, and analysis
- Calibrate diagnostic thresholds to meet CARB regulations
- Provide regular overview summaries and detailed reports on specific assignments, including timing projections
REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- 1 - 3 years of experience in diagnostic systems calibration development
- Understanding\Experience with OBD concepts, beside the mere use of a service scantool
- Ability to operate both independently and as part of a team
- Understanding of vehicle architectures and communication buses such as CAN / LIN, understanding of system and actuators used in an electrified vehicle
- Experience using Matlab and Simulink/Stateflow
- Basic understanding of electrified propulsion system hardware and function
- Experience with calibration / tuning of algorithm and devices (not necessarily a vehilcle) - e.g. DIY projects on rapid prototyping platforms
- Understanding of basic statistics
- Proven experience in a "mostly-remote-working" position - ability to meet deadlines and deliver results without day to day instructions
- Experience with INCA, Minitab, C++ and Visual Basic
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and business acumen
- Self-motivated/proactive with strong leadership and interpersonal skills
- Ability to operate both independently and as part of a team
- Basic computer proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and database applications
PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:
- 6mo - 3 years' experience in OBD calibration, propulsion system calibration, OBD Controls or propulsion controls within the electric, gasoline or diesel industry (Formula SAE or like programs)
- Experience with INCA, Minitab, C++ and Visual Basic
