Payroll Administrator

Reporting to the Business Analyst, the incumbent will be responsible for the processing of all payroll transactions which include ensuring that employees are paid accurately, by the pre-determined deadlines, and with all appropriate deductions withheld and remitted as per government regulations.

Specific Accountabilities

To ensure accurate and timely processing of all bi-weekly payroll, bonus payments, salary increases & annual vacation payouts

Assist in controlling transactions posted to the general ledger to ensure accuracy

Create or use reports to assist in the smooth processing of payroll functions

Remit employee's deductions and employer’s contributions to the various governmental agencies by the appropriate due dates

Maintains an accurate payroll system in compliance with company and government requirements

Perform required payroll reconciliation on a timely basis as part of the company’s internal control procedures

Prepare all data in respect with T4 and RL1 (annual earnings slips)

Maintain employee records with respect to rate of pay, benefits and pensionable earnings

Maintain, create and prepare formulas as they relate to the automated payroll systems

Identify and resolve payroll discrepancies

Maintain a high level of confidentiality as it relates to staff and employee salary administration

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a team player who possesses

A post-secondary degree in Business Administration or Accounting; or diploma with relevant level of experience

Previous payroll experience

A strong business orientation and customer focus with an ability to communicate to all levels of the business

Possess good communication and interpersonal skills

Have ability to work under pressure and adhere to strict deadlines

Ability to work alone with minimal supervision in a dynamic environment

Financial systems experience with Mincom Ellipse and Empath would be an asset

Advanced Microsoft Office skills
