We currently have an exciting opportunity for a permanent Network and Services Administrator on our IT team. The Network and Services Administrator will assist the IT Manager by providing technical support, implementing IT plans, and helping to improve the IT department’s efficiency and effectiveness.

What you’ll do:

  • Use expertise in Google Sheets to optimize formulas and analyze data for detailed reports.
  • Install and manage servers and Active Directory in an Azure cloud environment.
  • Assist with managing servers and operating systems, including Windows and Linux, as well as virtualization platforms like VMware and Hyper-V.
  • Assist with managing server applications, services, and roles, including DFS, DNS, DHCP, Web Services, and print services.
  • Manage system maintenance, including server and client patch updates and inventory management.
  • Provide end-user support through daily IT assistance and troubleshooting of software applications and hardware issues.
  • Implement and maintain network infrastructure, including routers, firewalls, switches, VPNs, WAN accelerators, and wireless access points. Be knowledgeable in various network protocols such as STP, 802.1q, 802.1x, IPSec, SMTP, SSH, S/FTP, and routing protocols.
  • Support the implementation of a Network Operations Center (NOC) to monitor network performance, diagnose and resolve issues, and optimize configurations for increased efficiency, reliability, and uptime.
  • Maintain network security protocols to safeguard against unauthorized access, vulnerabilities, and cyber-attacks.
  • Participate in security audits and vulnerability assessments, and utilize risk management skills to identify, prioritize, and mitigate security risks.
  • Conduct comprehensive security assessments and penetration testing.
  • When needed, implement disaster recovery plans, backup strategies, and contingency measures to minimize downtime and prevent data loss.
  • Regularly test and verify backups, recovery procedures, and failover mechanisms to ensure effectiveness.
  • Implement business intelligence using automation tools like the Power Platform and PowerShell.
  • Implement and manage Microsoft Azure, Office 365, and Intune for device and application management.
  • Effectively implement software projects using JavaScript, Google sheets, HTML, and other programming languages.
  • Assist IT Manager with assessing near- and long-term network capacity needs.
  • Other applicable duties as assigned.

What you’ll need:

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree or diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
  • At least 3 years of direct IT experience in desktop support, system/network administration, DevOps, and IT operations.
  • Previous experience and proficiency with Google Sheets required.
  • Experience managing cloud environments, including Office 365, OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, Microsoft Azure AD/Entra, Intune, and endpoint and application management.
  • Knowledge in implementation of cloud services including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS.
  • Interest and experience in DevOps practices, with an understanding of challenges in scaling tech stacks preferred.
  • Microsoft certifications (MCSE, MCSA, MCITP), CCNA, and other certifications in networking, server management, and security are significant assets.
  • Knowledge of security best practices and IT operations for always-up, always-available services, including Zero Downtime Deployment.
  • Skilled in virtualization and cloud services management.
  • Effective communication and team collaboration skills, including participating in software development teams.
  • Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, collaborate effectively in a team, and think outside the box.
  • Must have exceptional attention to detail, be able to manage multiple projects and conflicting priorities.

Working conditions:

  • Work takes place primarily in an office setting with extended periods of sitting at a desk, mousing and keyboarding.
