Job description:

Reporting to the Procurement Manager, the incumbent will oversee the strategic procurement of goods and services required for operating the CCR refinery and the Horne smelter.
This individual will be responsible for managing several categories including strategic sourcing, supplier relationships and performance, contracts and risk management. They will also act as a guide and point of contact for the procurement team.

More specifically, they will be tasked with:
  • Developing, implementing, and monitoring sourcing strategies for the categories of goods or services under their responsibility.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to achieve organizational goals, while simultaneously focusing on the process, performance and resource aspects of procurement.
  • Working with applicants to define requirements, identifying potential suppliers, preparing documentation, and managing large calls for tenders in accordance with company policies.
  • Evaluating bids and proposals from major suppliers and presenting selection recommendations to applicants and to the management team.
  • Negotiating commercial and contractual terms and executing agreements with selected suppliers.
  • Ensuring that customer expectations are met while respecting the company’s procurement policies.
  • Monitoring key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess process efficiency and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Managing contracts and ensuring suppliers are held accountable for performance by developing and negotiating relevant performance indicators to track suppliers’ contractual obligations.
  • Evaluating supplier performance by obtaining specific performance data, verifying its accuracy and ensuring communication between the relevant stakeholders.
  • Identifying breaches of contractual clauses, drafting letters of notice and complaint, and negotiating settlements.
  • Building and maintaining strong business relationships with assigned suppliers.
  • Behaving in a safe manner and showing constant concern for their own health and safety and that of their colleagues and business partners.

Qualifications and experience:
  • University degree in Administration, Operations and Logistics Management, Procurement or Law.
  • Over 10 years of experience in procurement which includes at least 7 years in the strategic management of calls for tender and contract negotiation.
  • Skilled in all aspects of the contract process, preparing a contractual structure, modifying pro forma clauses, and commercial, technical and contractual negotiation.
  • A skilled negotiator with excellent communication skills and a focus on customer service.
  • A highly organized self-starter.
  • Bilingual (French and English).
  • Knowledge of SAP (a plus).
  • Consistently ethics-driven.
  • Always prioritizes their own health and safety and that of their colleagues.
