The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety focuses on providing safe and secure communities for Saskatchewan residents to live, work and raise a family. The Ministry jointly works with partners to ensure effective policing throughout the province, communities are supported in crime prevention, and effective and efficient correctional services are provided for adult and young offenders.

Are you a highly motivated strategic individual that enjoys outside-of-the-box thinking, providing creative options and solutions to key stakeholders, and influencing direction on key priorities? As the Executive Advisor to the Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM) of Policing and Community Safety Services (PCSS), you will be an integral member of the PCSS division, working closely with executive managers, representing the ADM office on inter-branch projects in the ministry, as well as inter-ministry committee projects, and you will play a lead role in delivering the divisional strategic plan.

In this exciting fast-paced role you will act as a strategic advisor to the ADM, providing analysis and recommendations on complex corporate and division matters, as well as managing various projects and initiatives on behalf of the ADM. You will prepare and review briefing materials and reports on major programs, delivery and administrative issues; be agile and quick on your feet in a fast-paced environment; and assist with the managing, delegation and prioritization of various tasks and projects within the division.

Our ideal candidate would typically have relevant experience, and/or a degree in business, public administration, project management, or public policy.

In this role you will have knowledge of, or provide the following services:

  • Manage and coordinate emerging issues, public concerns\/issues and general inquiries on behalf of the ministry related to division matters.
  • Determine the action required on internal and external materials directed to the ADM through the Deputy Minister’s Office.
  • Efficient collaboration and relationship building skills to address and manage sensitive and differing needs with diverse stakeholders and assess the potential impacts of decisions on public and ministry-wide interests and concerns.
  • Participate in divisional meetings by assisting with appropriate follow up and ensuring that administration of decision items is complete and approved by the ADM.
  • Participate in divisional Senior Leadership meetings, which involves discussion in the planning and delivery of sensitive and confidential human resources, policy, budgetary and program delivery issues.
  • Legislation and regulations.
  • Government protocols, policies and procedures including Cabinet decisions and processes.
  • Decision-making processes within government, local, provincial and federal policing.
