DuBois Chemicals Canada Inc., Vancouver Division, is a leading manufacturer of dust suppression products for conveyed and stored materials such as sulphur, mineral ores, and coal. Support of our continuing product development efforts necessitates the addition of a Co-op Assistant Engineer to participate in pump, tank, and associated spray equipment design and assembly, along with product testing in our research and development lab. DuBois is committed to ecologically responsible chemistry, and is continuing to develop proprietary “green” products.


Position

  • DuBois Chemicals Canada is offering an 8-12 month co-op position.
  • The position will be based in our Vancouver office.
  • The candidate will be part of a technical team (engineering and science), supervised and working alongside five engineers (one P.Eng.) and a group of scientists.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

  • CAD modeling of components for discussion and for fabrication
  • Dust suppression system testing
  • Data collection
  • Test systems design and operation
  • Pump skid operation and modification
  • Spray nozzle, manifold, and associated equipment setup and operation
  • New test equipment design and assembly
  • Test report generation and presentation to supervisor(s)
  • Dust suppression system design and assembly
  • Modify and assemble as necessary pump skids and related equipment
  • Test new equipment and participate in system design upgrades and modifications
  • Participate in customer service and technical issues resolution
  • Automation of department workflows

Requirements:

  • Minimum two-year completion of a Mechanical, Materials, Electrical or Chemical Engineering program
  • Laboratory experience is desirable
  • Hands-on mechanical aptitude is required
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to details is required
  • Ability to work to deadlines, sense of urgency
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • CAD experience is required. AutoCAD experience is an asset.
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications
  • Excellent communication skills
