Job Title: Quality Technician

Summary:

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Quality Technician to join our team. The Quality Technician will be responsible for providing quality assurance, quality control guidance, and technical support. This role will involve administering site-specific requirements of our Quality Programs and acting as a liaison with consultants, clients, and clients' inspectors on quality-related concerns.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure implementation of all our quality program requirements at the project level.
  • Review client's quality and technical requirements and ensure implementation of requirements at the project level.
  • Monitor and/or complete field documentation related to QA/QC activities.
  • Monitor and/or carry out material receiving and inspection activities.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain project-specific inspection and test plans.
  • Conduct project-specific quality orientations.
  • Ensure project management teams have current drawings, specifications, codes, standards, etc.
  • Assist in the development of project QA/QC procedures, activities as required.
  • Monitor construction work for compliance with drawings, specifications, code, and jurisdictional authorities. Generate reports of findings for review by the Quality Manager and applicable Project Manager.
  • Support the Quality Manager in the development and management of Quality policies and procedures.
  • Support the Quality Manager in obtaining and maintaining all certifications and registrations.
  • Assist in vendor, subcontractor, and project surveillance audits.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee project site quality programs including third party inspection agencies and subcontractor quality programs.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recognize safety as a top priority of the organization.
  • Wear personal protective equipment on the project site.
  • Adhere to the Quality Management System (QMS) including policies, procedures, and philosophy of continuous improvement.
  • Deliver professional customer service.
  • Adhere and support our Corporate Core Values and Mission Statement.
  • Adopt a teamwork approach and willingly support coworkers.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager and Project Manager.

Education, Experience, and Skills:

  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in Engineering Technologies, Quality Control, and/or related field experience.
  • 3-5 years of construction experience.
  • Bilingualism an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents.
  • Mathematical proficiency.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and manage time efficiently.
  • Knowledge of relevant codes and standards.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:

  • Certificate of Engineering Technology.
  • ISO 9001 Auditor.
  • Certificate of Qualification in a trade.
  • CSA approved Welding Inspector.
  • Canadian Society of Engineers are assets.

Physical Demands:

  • Regularly required to walk, use hands and fingers to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
  • May be required to complete inspections or reviews of work at high elevations via stairs/ladders/or aerial work platforms.

Work Environment:

  • Principally project-focused.
  • Exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions.
  • Frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals.
  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places and risk of electrical shock.
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
