Hours: 37.5 hours per week

Position Purpose:

This position offers a unique opportunity to work in a progressive proactive health environment. We foster a team environment founded on cooperation and a positive work place.

This position will be based out of the Mayfair Place Clinic, however the successful candidate must be prepared to work in other assigned clinics locations as needed.

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for operating gamma cameras and accessory equipment, performing nuclear medicine examinations in accordance with CAMRT (Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists) and the ACMDTT (Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists) standards and practice and shall adhere to their Code of Ethics;
  • Performs high quality nuclear medicine imaging in a professional, timely and safe manner;
  • Uses good judgment when assessing cases to differentiate normal and abnormal findings;
  • Prepares equipment for usage each morning in accordance with standardized procedures as required;
  • Ensures that materials, procedure area and patient are prepared for the procedure in all cases. Complies with all Mayfair policies, procedures and protocols;
  • Strict compliance of Mayfair’s Radiation Safety Policies and Procedures;
  • Ensures the correct preparation, transport, storage and usage of radiopharmaceuticals in all cases;
  • Adhere to ALARA principle ensuring that the radiation is confined correctly to protect the patient and attending staff from unnecessary exposure;
  • Ongoing knowledge of the day-to-day organization of the clinic;
  • Performs other non-technical duties including maintaining a clean safe work environment.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in Nuclear Medicine Imaging
  • Certificate in Medical Radiation Technology in Nuclear Medicine from an accredited College or University;
  • In possession of a current CAMRT (Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists) registration. Proof of registration required annually;
  • Certification with a current ACMDTT (Alberta College of Medical Diagnostic and Therapeutic Technologists) registration, proof of registration required annually;
  • Proficient and demonstrates confidence with IV Injections;
  • Advanced CPR certification required, specifically BLS Provider certificate (cardiopulmonary resuscitation);
  • Proven confidence and ability to work independently and perform all nuclear imaging scans (stress testing & MPI) with little to no guidance;
  • Knowledge of Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission Regulations;
  • Demonstrates superior nuclear imaging technological skills;
  • Travel to other clinics within Calgary is required.
