Job Information

The Junior Telecom Project Officer is a pivotal role in supporting the implementation, administration and troubleshooting of the Government of the Northwest Territories' telecom systems. Reporting to the Manager, Corporate IT Projects and Planning, this role involves collaborating with Telecom Project Officers and other team members to develop and execute telecom solutions. This position also encompasses managing project tasks, timelines and deliverables while ensuring alignment with GNWT standards and mandates.

The ideal candidate for this position will possess a fundamental understanding of the GNWT's IT infrastructure and telephone systems, including the Avaya Aura telephone system. Essential skills include project management, effective communication, client service orientation, and analytical thinking. The candidate should be adept at problem-solving, decision-making, and working independently or within a team. Experience with project management methodologies, and the ability to navigate a high-stress, multi-tasking environment are crucial.

Typically, the skills required to be successful in the role include, but are not limited to, a diploma in Telecommunications, Electronics Engineering, or Computer Science with at least one year of demonstrated Avaya Aura IP-PBX programming experience and/or training. Knowledge of BlackBerry Enterprise Mobile Device Management and project management in a northern environment is advantageous.
