Volunteer Treasurer

Skate Canada – Saskatchewan (Skate Saskatchewan) is seeking a volunteer with financial/accounting background to serve as a Treasurer on our Board of Directors Executive for fiscal years 2024-2026.

Skate Canada - Saskatchewan is a non-profit sport governing body who is affiliated with and governed by Skate Canada.

In Saskatchewan, over 7,000 individual members belonging to 99 affiliated clubs/skating schools utilize Skate Canada programs.

Skate Saskatchewan is currently seeking board candidates who have skillsets in the following areas:

· Financial expertise/CPA designation (non-profit experience is an asset)

· Effective communication skills to interact with board members, staff and other stakeholders.

· Ability to work collaboratively with other board members and staff to achieve the organization’s financial goals.

· Awareness of, engagement in, or interest in the sport of figure skating is an asset.

· Candidates based in Saskatchewan.

Board Responsibilities:

· Directors’ terms are for two years, renewable.

· Four (4) in-person Board meetings a year (June, September, January, and March). Virtual meetings on as needs basis.

· Board members serve on one committee at least such as Finance & Business Development.

· Board and committee meetings are conducted online, in English.

· Board and organization orientation are provided.

· The overall time commitment is on average 2 – 6 hours per month, including Board meetings, committee meetings, reading materials, signing cheques; preparing monthly financial statements and email communication.
