Your Strengths

You will have an eye for detail, an aptitude for administration and an understanding of systems. You will enjoy working as part of a team and communicating with a variety of people. You may already have knowledge of maintenance and property certification, but if not, you will receive support in learning about what is needed.

You will have practical as well as administrative skills (e.g., can complete minor repairs in the property, paint a wall or two, remove garden waste and other small items when needed), as well as keeping maintenance systems updated alongside the Peterborough Team Administrator.

About the role

We are looking for someone to join the Peterborough team for 20 hours a week as a Maintenance Coordinator

Since our first house opened in Peterborough in 2010, our housing stock has grown to 17 houses in Peterborough with the potential of more in the pipeline. You will be responsible for the oversight and care of these properties, whether it be getting a house ready for tenants or overseeing the ongoing maintenance of a property through regular monitoring and reporting. 

You will be responsible for organising and coordinating work in properties, liaising with contractors where necessary, keeping in mind and having oversight of the budget of each property. You will be working with the Peterborough Team and liaising with the Operations Team.

As a Maintenance Coordinator, you will also be liaising with our tenants regarding house maintenance, so we value humility which feeds into one of our core values of mutuality where everyone is valued and treated with respect.

About you

You will be a highly motivated and organised individual who has a desire and commitment to see our properties be of a high standard reflecting our care for our tenants. You will have an ability to work with tenants with support needs, including poor mental health, past offending, and drug and alcohol dependency issues. You will need to be someone who can combine working within a team whilst demonstrating initiative and also being able to work independently. You will have an appreciation and understanding of reporting systems and processes.

We provide not just shelter and housing know-how, but also the friendship of a church. Together with over 50 churches, we provide direct support to people whom others have often given up on. Our first home had a real heart for men coming out of prison Homes are now available for a wide range of people experiencing homelessness: people in recovery from addiction, people sleeping rough, women and children fleeing domestic violence, people coming out of rehab, former prostitutes, refugees, those suffering mental health issues and survivors of human trafficking. 

We are now partnering with churches across the country. We encourage others to use our model by franchising the idea. Our vision is for every church to lovingly provide the homeless with a home. The tragedy of homelessness is in every community. We believe that with our help, every church can do something about it.
