Community Support Worker 1

Location: Hazel Grove
Salary: £18,135.00
Hours per Week: 37.5

At Together Trust we believe everybody deserves an equal chance in life. There are no exceptions. We provide a wide range of support services including fostering, residential, community and family support. We also provide specialist educational support through our schools and colleges.

At Together Trust we’re committed to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of the people we support. It’s a commitment we require from all of our staff and volunteers.

We follow a robust safer recruitment process and all successful applicants will go through recruitment checks. If you’re successful we’ll need you to have an enhanced DBS check. For all roles we’ll also need a minimum of three references. Depending on the role you apply for, we might also need to request references from each employer where you have worked with young people or vulnerable adults.

We’ll also need to know about any breaks in your employment history with evidence from documents like birth certificates or passports. If you’re successful and have worked outside the UK for any longer than three months in the last five years, we’d also need to complete a foreign DBS or code of conduct check.

We now have an opportunity for a community support worker to join the one of our teams. The Service is a small and well established supported three person tenancy close to Stockport. Through a person centred framework we currently support the young men to live as independently as possible; both at home and in the community. The service is committed to improving the quality of life outcomes of our tenantsby implementing plans that support the development of communication skills, build functional daily living skills that enable independence and build meaningful and engaging community integration and leisure opportunities.

We are looking to recruit a flexible and committed individual who is warm, personable and understanding. Experience of using picture support systems and PBS is advantageous but not essential as robust coaching will be available.

As our community support worker, you will…

As a community support worker you will be actively involved in supporting individuals to live a full and active life. You will do this by ensuring that you and the team around the person do all you can to deliver the agreed plans. You will play an important role, alongside your line manager and senior managers, to ensure that the team functions effectively and is supported through the attendance of productive team meetings and 1-1 supervision sessions.

Community Support Workers play a key role in developing relationships between the person supported, other important individuals in their lives and the Trust. You will also be expected to work closely with any family and professionals involved in the individuals care and ensure that needs and interventions are explored and acted on within your remit.

It is expected that you will support the individual to access appointments, formal reviews and planning of the care and support provided. You will work within a person centred framework within the service so that the individual/s supported can develop control of their lives and resources in a meaningful and empowering way. For example, empowering and teaching individual to use budgeting systems, assisting in detailed self-care plans and building independence skills in the least restrictive way.

As a Support Worker you will be expected to work on shift, administer medication, ensure good routines are in place and are undertaken to maintain the individual’s well-being. This role will extend to undertaking frequent checks linked to health and safety and daily/weekly recording systems, and implementing simple data systems to ensure that the whole service is performing in line with agreed plans, best practice and the Trusts standards.

About you…

Experience is preferable but is not essential, we pride ourselves on staff development and offer an outstanding training package and induction into the organisation. We’re looking for people who have a genuine interest and drive in working for the people we support.

As the team provide 24/7 support, you will need to be flexible and willing to work shifts on a rota basis over a day 7 period, due to the nature of this role you will be required to take part in sleep over shifts, these are paid in addition to the 37.5 hours at a rate of £62.64 and are not included in the 37.5 hours advertised.

Benefits

  • Certified Training
  • Child-Care Vouchers
  • Company Pension
  • Competitive Salary
