Manager, Risk Management and Internal Audit

Overview

Reporting to the CFO, the Manager, Risk Management & Internal Audit is a key member of the financial management team.  Working independently, this position monitors and reports on the risk profile of the corporation, assisting others with developing evaluations and mitigation techniques on risks throughout the corporation.  This includes managing the corporation’s insurance program and evaluating contract risk.  This position also develops and executes the annual internal audit plan based on risk and eternal requests. The Manager, Risk Management and Internal Audit will demonstrate strong financial acumen, attention to detail and accuracy, confidence based on job-knowledge, a positive attitude, excellent time management and organization skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities to meet strict deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a corporate risk management framework to report, track, analyze, and summarize operational risks through all divisions and at all levels
  • Assist with the development and harmonization of risk management processes, including divisional risk / controls assessments, risk measures, and liaise with various division leads regarding risk registers
  • Identify opportunities for integration of innovation or Corporate efficiencies through the ERM process
  • Responsible for the administration, development, analysis and management of the Corporation’s insurance programs including the key representative with the Corporation’s insurance brokers.
  • Plan and execute risk-based operational, financial, regulatory and compliance audits as part of developing and executing a risk-based three year internal audit plan

Qualifications

  • Degree in a business field (finance, accounting or economics) is required, or a designation as a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Risk Manager (CRM), or Charted Professional Accountant (CPA). Equivalencies may be considered.
  • Must possess five years of audit experience in accounting firm or industry and/or progressive risk management
  • Intermediate level proficiency with Excel and proven experience working with large volumes of data
  • Experience working in a government, Crown Corporation or utility environment is an asset
  • Strong proficiency with PowerPoint to prepare presentation materials
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains software is beneficial

Salary for this position ranges from $58.55/hr-$73.18/hr. We offer a comprehensive benefits package which includes health and dental benefits, long-term disability, life insurance, paid sick days and a defined benefits pension plan. This position is located in Hay River, NT. Relocation assistance may be provided.
