TheCity of Port Moody is searching for a customer service-oriented individualfor thetemporary, full-time position of Senior Bylaw Officer (approximately 4 to 6 months).

The Senior Bylaw Officer will supervise, coordinate and assist bylaw officers with ensuring City bylaw compliance. This position will identify related non-compliance issues surrounding parking, property, licenses and animal control and will prepare bylaw updates and respond to public questions and complaints on bylaw matters.The Senior Bylaw Officer will ensure enforcement of the City's bylaws to compliance while providing advice and customer service to members of the public. This position will schedule and assign work to bylaw staff while implementing projects and drafting bylaw and policy changes where needed.

Pleasenote that employment with the City of Port Moody is subject to the receipt of a satisfactory policeinformation check as well as a satisfactory driver's abstract.

  • Equivalent to two years of post secondary courses in a related field
  • Bylaw Enforcement and Investigation Skills Level II
  • Conflict Resolution I and II would be an asset
  • Local Government Administration training would be an asset
  • Three years of related experience in a law enforcement or municipal setting (or an equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Knowledge of a variety of Federal, Provincial and Municipal laws
  • Knowledge of City bylaws and the ability to interpret them
  • Experience using the Municipal Ticketing Information (MTI) system
  • Experience with gathering evidence, preparing court documents and knowledge of courtroom procedure and etiquette
  • Experience writing and amending bylaws, policies and procedures
  • Excellent interpersonal, decision-making and conflict resolution skills
